About Me

My name is Alexis. I’m really glad you’ve found my website! I’d like to tell you more about how I practice dietetics, and then, if you’re interested, I’ll tell you more about my story below..

My Nutrition Philosophy

I empower my clients to cultivate a healthy relationship with food through gentle nutrition. My goal is to help you feel more confident and at peace with your eating habits. I incorporate the intuitive eating principles and help clients reconnect with their hunger and fullness signals. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by diets or struggling with emotional eating, my approach might be just what you need to reclaim your autonomy around food. I would love to help you discover ways to incorporate your favorite foods into your nutrition goals, because I believe all foods fit into a healthy, balanced diet.

About Alexis Rios

I’m Alexis, and besides being an RDN, I also enjoy gardening, running, and reading historical fiction. In typical dietitian fashion, I also absolutely love food! I quickly learned to love food from a young age, watching cooking shows with my dad and making recipes for family dinner. At the end of the day, no matter how busy our family was, we always sat down to dinner together, and I greatly cherish those childhood meals.

Prior to pursuing a degree in nutrition, I became a Certified Culinarian from Cuyahoga Community College and spent several years working as a chef around Cleveland. My background in culinary has paved my interest in nutrition and I started to feel more interested in why people eat the way they do, and how certain dietary patterns can be more healthful than others.

I became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in May 2023 after completing both a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics at Kent State University, and an internship through Bowling Green State University. The science of nutrition is very broad (because every aspect of life is intertwined with food!) and it’s important to consider both what we eat and why we eat.

During my education, I worked for a local grocery store chain that has a wellness department. While working there, I began to learn about all of the ways I didn’t want to practice dietetics – promoting restrictive diets, expensive supplements, and blanket advice. I explored the way these experiences impacted my own thoughts about food and my body, and watched numerous customers struggle through the cycle of dieting. By the time I graduated, I knew I wanted to be an RD that helped people love and enjoy food, not fear it.

I proudly open the (virtual) doors to my new private practice, Alexis Rios Nutrition. Come on in, find a comfy seat, and tell me about your favorite foods.
