Basic Smoothie Recipe

I started making daily smoothies a few years ago. I’ve made some pretty delicious and pretty gross ones along the way! Now when I make smoothies, I make a double batch so my husband can have some too. This smoothie recipe is super simple, tastes fantastic, and provides your fruit servings for the day! Not to mention all of the vitamins and minerals it provides!

A few tips for the perfect smoothie:

  1. Use a decent blender and don’t be afraid to let it run on high for a minute or two! There’s nothing worse than a chunky smoothie!
  2. Use good quality frozen fruit, specifically berries, pineapple and mango. Make sure your fruit has “no sugar added” and buy it in bulk so you have plenty on hand! Or cut and freeze your own, if you have time!
  3. Don’t be afraid to add liquid! Without adequate liquid, the fruit chunks just sit on top of the blades and nothing blends.
  4. Use water as your liquid choice. My personal goal for a smoothie is to reach my fruit servings for the day and I don’t want my smoothie to pack too many calories.
  5. Add your favorite superfoods to boost your smoothie! This recipe acts as a base, so you can play with the ingredients to your liking!

This recipe makes 2 servings, so you can share with a friend or save the other half for tomorrow!
